4 Marketing Strategies Every Septic Business Should Use in 2025

The world of marketing can seem more confusing in 2025 than ever - with terms like "SEO", "Chat GPT", and "ai" being thrown around. The truth is... marketing can be as confusing and difficult as you make it. In this simple guide, I will help show you 4 marketing strategies every septic business should be using in 2025.

1. Google Business Profile

First off, I want to dig into the most simple and easy-to-setup campaign that I know of when it comes to digital marketing. You may already know that you should have this set up or you might even have yours done with all of the right information, but no matter the case - it could probably use some updating. Setting up your business's Google Profile is pretty simple. Just make sure that you take the time to answer all of the questions to best match your business and target customers. It’s important to focus on using keywords like the city you operate in and words that people around you use to search for pumpers. For example: "septic pumping in Seattle", "septic tank pumping near Dallas", etc. Upload any and all photos that represent your business. Spend extra time taking pictures of your truck, your logo, you while you're pumping, employees while they're pumping, and even pets if you think they could help connect your business to your target customer. Try to update your photos and post on a biweekly or monthly schedule. The time that you dedicate towards updating your Google Business Profile will help bring in more customers.

2. Facebook Page

Having a Facebook page for your business is basically a cheat code when it comes to attracting customers to your business. If you’ve ever heard the term “top of mind awareness”, then you probably know that getting your business in front of people’s eyes is important for staying relevant. Facebook does a great job of this with its incredible 3.1 billion monthly users! If you have customers, then they are probably on Facebook just waiting for you to make a post! Similarly to the Google Business Profile, it’s important to set your Facebook page up to best reflect your company and its core values as possible. Posting regularly is also crucial for staying at the top of your customers’ minds. If you really want to get some traction, then get creative and post Facebook Reels that are funny, informative, or interesting. One of our most viewed videos is a video titled “Salesmen do a Weld Test” with around 100,000 views across our social media. The craziest part is that we manufacture and sell septic trucks. The video didn’t really have anything to do with septic pumping, septic trucks, or even selling trucks at all. People just thought the idea of a white-collar salesman trying to do some blue-collar work was entertaining. I go more into detail in this blog post. Facebook business pages give a pretty good ROI when it comes to the time and effort you put into your septic business marketing. If you stay consistent and put thought into your posts, then people will reach out!

3. Website

This one might also seem like a no-brainer - at least for a marketing manager like me - but I’m surprised at how many businesses don’t have a website! There’s really not an excuse to not have a website in 2025 with all of the tools and software out there that can make a website for you in a few clicks and 30 bucks a month. I would suggest getting a website built or building it yourself if you can, but if not, then WIX’s or Square’s ai website builder will do the job. Make sure to post pictures and videos of your business, trucks, operators, work being done, etc. I can’t say that enough. People are stimulated by pictures and videos - plus, photos will help build trust 1,000 times more than words ever could. It’s just the way we’re wired! You will also need to include as much business information as you’re comfortable with, testimonials, links to all of your social media, phone number, and email. Put your website in the bio (short for biography) of your social media pages so that people can visit your website from wherever they find you. Your website should be the last stop before a customer reaches out to you through a form submission or phone call/text message. With a good website set up, you will not only attract more customers, but also higher-intent customers (customers who are willing to pay more money).

4. Google Advertising

Now, for the secret sauce. Google is the go-to place for service-based business search. That’s why having a well-optimized Google Business Profile is important. But if you want to get ahead even further and grab customers straight off of their search for “septic pumping near me”, you will need to pay for advertising. There are a few steps to this process, but Google will guide you through and you’ll be set up in no time. You will need to set up an advertising campaign on Google Advertising with “keywords” that are specific to your region and target customer. For example, if you have a pumping business and live in Dallas, then you should probably pay for the keywords “septic pumping near me”, “septic pumping in Dallas”, “septic pumping near Dallas”, etc. Be specific about the words but make sure that you only pick keywords that people will be searching for when they want to use YOUR service. Keywords are expensive, so you don’t want to waste money on words that won’t bring customers. If you are advertising on Google, you will most definitely need a website - and a pretty well thought out one, too. I would suggest paying a local web designer or marketing agency to build a website for you and possibly run your Google ads if you have the money and not the time. If you have the time and not the money, then do some research and do it yourself. The reason why this works is because people who are searching on Google have a higher intent on purchasing a product or service than compared to Facebook or other social platforms.

Those are the 4 best marketing strategies that every septic pumping business should use in 2025. I hope this guide can help you grow your business to new heights.
